Services

At Tudor Rose Tree Care we provide our domestic and commercial customers with a wide range of tree care services. All these services are undertaken to the highest professional standards with our trademark of excellence stamped on each project.

Tree Felling
At Tudor Rose we are experts in tree felling, covering both domestic and commercial tree feeling projects. As fully qualified Arborists, you can have total peace of mind that we will fell your tree in accordance with the latest in official regulations.

Tree felling is the process of cutting a tree from the base using wedges to fell the tree in one piece. This is not recommended for trees in confined space, instead, we would use sectional dismantling.

Tree Topping
Tudor Rose knows how to keep your trees looking at their best, and the secret is always the right care and the right time. Our expert arborists have years of industry experience so you can rest assured that their workmanship is second to none.

Tree topping is where whole tops of trees or large branches/trunks are removed from the tops of trees. Tree topping achieves three things: safety, asethics and also stimulates new growth, and is an ideal solution for both commercial and domestic customers.

Tree Pollarding
At Tudor Rose, we use a combination of specialist tree care techniques to ensure your tree is properly nurtured and in the process ensuring both long life and safety.

Tree pollarding is a pruning system that removes the upper branches to promote a dense head of foliage and branches. This technique is ideal for keeping your trees, evergreens, and conifers to a set height.

Crown Reduction
As expert tree surgeons, we specialise in ensuring your trees continue to look at their best year by year, and tree crown reduction is great for encouraging healthy tree growth.

Tree crown reduction involves removing the top canopy of the tree. This can serve to allow more light into your garden or property, but is also ideal for reducing the risk of a tree interfering with overhead cables. The results are a compact, tidy tree.

Crown Thinning
At Tudor Rose, we provide tree surgeon services for commercial and domestic customers alike. Tree crown thinning is just as ideal for conifers in your back garden as it is for large parks in manor house grounds.

The process of crown thinning involves removing selected branches, (dead, weak or overlapping branches) from the crown of the tree. This improves the overall balance and structure of the tree as well as reducing the crown density, therefore, letting more light through the branches.

Stump Removal
Stumps are an important part of the tree removal process. If a stump is left after a tree is felled, it is almost certain to develop fungal root rots and suckering root rots. To avoid this problem, which can cause extensive damage to the surrounding area, it is highly advisable to have the stumps professionally extracted. Even if a stump is dead, it can still cause root diseases.

This process can be completed by untrained persons but it is much more expedient to use a professional because of the experience required and the machinery which needs to be used, whether winches, grinders or excavators.

Winch Removal
Winch removal is only very effective with smaller trees. For leverage purposes we leave a higher stump to help with the removal.
Excavating
This can be done by hand but is usually only carried out with smaller trees. For the larger tree stump, we employ the use of mechanical excavators to help us remove your stump, again leaving a slightly higher stump to assist the excavation.
Grinding
This is a very effective method of stump removal. Stump grinders mechanically grind out the main root. Some roots will be left in the ground but most of these will rot down over time. Fine sawdust will be left over from the grinding.

When it comes to the grinding method of stump removal, there is the option of either grinding to a shallow level or grinding away the root much deeper. Which you choose is dependent upon what you want to do with the area around the stump. If you want to lay new turf over the area then you are likely to only need shallow root grinding. However, if you want to carry out landscaping works then it would be prudent to take the root grinding to a deeper level.

Tree stumps can be removed at any time but it is often more efficient and cost-effective to have them removed while the tree is being felled.

At Tudor Rose Tree Care, we remove tree stumps for many customers including residential gardens, park areas, golf courses and more, and we are fully insured for all the works we carry out. We come with years of experience, making us efficient, knowledgeable and very skilled with stump removals.

Stump Grinding
If you’re planning to have trees felled or removed from your garden or land, one issue you’ll need to think about is how to remove the tree stump. A common and popular way of removing tree stumps is through stump grinding. Although tree stumps can be left in the ground after felling, this can cause problems with new shoots growing out of the trunk and roots. Dead tree stumps can also become hosts for root disease and rots, which could spread to other foliage in your garden.

During the stump grinding process, a machine mechanically grinds out the main root plate of the tree, leaving fine sawdust behind. Although you can hire a stump grinder yourself, it is quite a skilled task, so is usually best left to the horticultural experts who will have sufficient experience of stump grinding to carry it out safely.

When you’re having stump grinding work carried out, you should specify how deep you would like the stump to be ground. Shallow stump grinding is normally adequate if you want to lay turf over the ground surface afterwards, but if you want to replant or landscape the land, you should ask for a deeper stump grind. Another aspect of stump grinding you’ll need to consider is what to do with the sawdust that is left over. This could be used to fill the hole left by the stump, spread on other areas of the garden as mulch, or taken away by your tree surgeon.
